The larger silver canister is your FCC. Yes, there is a paper FCC fuel filter in there that needs to be replaced.
The smaller black piece the arrow points too does not have any filter as far as I know and not sure what it does but believe that year boat also has an inline fuel filter located between the fuel tank and the engine.
Later years like my boat have the spin on fuel filter/water separator....and the paper filter in the FCC canister. (bottom of your FCC canister should have a plug), you remove to drain the fuel before removing the canister. If any water in fuel, that is also where it collects so I typically drain into a container and let sit so I can see if any water was in my system.

Thank you, that is very helpful, I know all about the FCC and the paper filter but I checked for an in-line filter last night and so far I don't see one. Going to double check again when I get off the road. I was wondering if the black canister was it.2006 SV 211 (Sold)

The small black canister does indeed have a filter inside. Unscrew the bottom half of the canister and you will find it. Special filter from Nautique2006 SV 211 (Sold)

I recommend changing this "pre-filter" each time you change the FCC filter. It can become clogged and restrict fuel flow since it is the first filter that fuel passes through. Or, remove the "pre-filter" canister altogether (delete it) and replace it with the easy-to-change Nautique inline filter mounted in an easy to access location in the fuel hose.

Somewhere on here I recently came across a post that linked to a very helpful YouTube video showing how to remove and change that filter and the inline. Maybe someone else knows the link I’m looking and haven’t had any luck locating it.
found it

Tried to get the canister loose today with the screen filter. Could not budge it. It would be easy to break off the lp pump to so not sure I just won’t leave it for now.2006 SV 211 (Sold)

Speaking of changing FCC filters... on the older threaded style; which way do you have to turn the canister to get it loose?! Been fighting with it for a few hours now, broke 2 (borrowed... :\ ) filter-wrenches... Been turning it the 'regular' way (mostly). Instructions with the new filter read "remove the FCC bowl by turning it counterclockwise as view from the bottom". I normally consider myself not too stoopid but the longer I'm struggling with this the more it's driving me nuts! Been laying on my back in the boat visualizing a clock in the sky . However a clock turns the same direction no matter from which direction you look at it. But then why do they state "as view from the bottom" hence I'm assuming counterclockwise from below must equal clockwise from above... Now I just found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmrRSFN0n-0 where he loosens it the same direction that I tried... But then again his FCC is on the opposite side of the engine as mine. So maybe it spins the opposite direction too... Or maybe that guy is in the UK or Australia, and there they turn the other way.... Another day of this and I won't know what's left and right and up and down anymore... HELP!!

Think of it as a regular bolt going into a nut. It should be the regular way. So from the top view it would be clock wise just like in the video. Should spin off just like an oil filter. I can’t remember if on the old crew style there was still a clam you had to loosen first?2006 SV 211 (Sold)

The older style is spin only. Mine was tight as can be. I bent my oil filter wrench getting the canister off. If you have an old leather belt, wrap it around a few times and use that as your wrench. Or use the belt and wrench together.

And yes looking from below you turn it counter clockwise, which means if you are looking from above it will appear that you are turning it clockwise.Last edited by Evening Shade; 06-26-2019, 09:45 AM.2007 Malibu Wakesetter 23 LSV, 1995 Cobalt 200

Cheers guys!
I'll start looking for a leather belt, and a wrench like the guy in the video is using (hope there's space enough in the Super Sport to get it around there). And keep turning (or trying to...) the same way as I did. Comforting to now be sure which direction it should go!

Hello All
It too have a 330 Excalibur, in a 2005 210SAN. A few weeks ago the boat died and we were towed home,..... After repacing the FCC filter and spark plugs it seems to run fine at times but then will bog down every once and a while when picking up a surfer.
Is there a pre-filter on this era SAN?
How difficult is it to removed the small black canister by the FCC? is this screen cleanable?
Any help here is appreciated
