    PCM V-Drive Question (16G23)

Having a hard time finding any information other than the PCM pdf documents that are on here and other websites.

    2016 G23 H6, 200ish hrs

All normal maintenance end of the season and beginning of this season.

During the normal checks this spring, noticed the V-drive oil was low. Inspected the area, some oil residue was in the bottom of the hull. No seals or other areas showed signs of leakage.

Added almost 1/2 quart to the v-drive and headed to the water (that much oil was a big concern since it’s a sealed maintenance free gearbox). After finishing up for the day and cleaning up, the bottom of the hull showed signs of more oil. Went to the v-drive and the top is covered with oil. What is the plunger that rests on top? Is it a pressure valve, relief valve, one way check valve? Because oil seems to be coming from that area on top and not any other areas.

    Thoughts?

There was a recall on my 2016 v-drive breather valve. It blew out fluid into my bilge and ran low on fluid. Have it serviced, it's free of charge. Fixed the problem.

      That's a vent. See attached.

Thanks for the info. Taking it in tomorrow, bad timing for sending a boat to service! Did they retro another relief valve using the brass pieces shown in the pictures?
