    Ballast reccomendations for 2018 230

    Hello all,

was wondering about the upgrades people are doing for their 230's I currently have the pro ballast but would like to get a bit more weight to play with. I was reading this Thread: (https://www.planetnautique.com/vb5/f...akesurf-issues)

I'm only able to find 650 lb bags for the rear instead of the 750's

Also very interested in how folks are setting up the Bow? are they under seat sacs or over seat? Talking to WAKEmakers, it sounds like plumbing is very easy.

    Thanks all!
    -Derrick

      Thanks very much charlesml3!

I'll try out a few of your suggestions in the rear.

I'm still very interested in seeing some setups of the bow bags. are they going under, or over the seat pads?

      Thanks!

If you keep the added weight under 1000 pounds total, it's unlikely you'll need bow bags at all. I have a total of 850 pounds of additional ballast and don't need anything in the bow.

I thought that the bow weight lengthened the wave?

I'm still using "lead." Technically it isn't lead anymore. It's steel shot. Anyway you need to test and see if you need bow weight. It CAN lengthen the wave but it can also reduce the height of it. The only time I use bow weight is when I have like 8 people on the boat. And then the bow weight is "one of you has to sit up front."
