    Cleaning aluminum wakeboard tower

I recently purchased a 2005 226 that is in excellent condition but the aluminum wakeboard tower could use some TLC. What are some cleaning ideas or cleaning materials/ chemicals that won’t damage aluminum

Is it anodized or is truly polished aluminum? If it is polished aluminum, you can use Mother's Wheel Polish or a product called NeverDull.

How can I tell if the aluminum is anodized?

If it’s an original tower, then it’s anodized.

Yes, it’s the original tower. Do you suggest a mild soap?

I have an anodized tower, its never gotten really bad so don't know how much cleaning you need to do or what may be "too harsh" but dawn dish soap certainly would not be too harsh. I wax my tower 1-2 times a year to help keep bugs off and make it easier to clean (used to use Collonite paste wax....now use Jescar, Power Lock +, same as I use on my boat). I know this may sound strange, but I also wipe down the tower occasionally using 303 (the stuff for the vinyl seats), it makes the tower look good and definately makes it easier to remove bugs from towing.
