I had this problem a few years ago. It seemed to go away but now it's back again. I always seem to have wet carpet on the starboard side of my boat. Since I have a lift I don't have to worry about the boat sinking or anything but I obviously want to get tihs squared away. I would greatly appreciate any tips on what to check. The packing was replaced a few years ago. Much of the wetness seems to come from under the driver's seat. I had taken the seat out over the winter and replaced with the original screws but am concerned that I might have done something here. All comments would be greatly appreciated.

RE: 90 Nautique - carpet always wet on starboard side
i think the bilge pump connects right by the drivers seat - if might be leaking at the through-hull connection?... (I'm trying to picture up under there)
good luck, let us know.Current Boat ==> 2004 Ski Nautique 206, LOVE IT!

RE: 90 Nautique - carpet always wet on starboard side
I'd check the hull/Deck joint, my '78 used to pour through there until i put a bit of 5200 in it... & i think the bilge through hull should be further up, im not sure if that would get all your starboard side wet. How much of it is getting wet? Just one little spot? or like the entire side?

RE: Pretty much the entire side is getting wet
Thank you! Now if you would be patient enough to give me an explanation on what would have to be done to fix this I would be greatly appreciative. If it's a big deal I'll get the marina to do it but if I can do it myself that would be great! I'm quasi handy but for instance, I have no idea what the "gunwhale" is. Thanks again.

RE: Pretty much the entire side is getting wet
The Gunwhale or Gunnel is basically just the real name for the the upper side of the boat (or the side decks) if your turning hard one way or another look down & see if you can see any water coming in from where the deck & hull are joined, if that is the case, then i would recommend a tube of 5200 & just shoot a nice bead inside that joint, after that smooth out with your finger to get good coverage(with finger only if wearing gloves). And make sure to cover your carpet, it's gooey, nasty stuff that's tough to get off once its on so be extra careful, & have some mineral spirits & a rag nearby while doing this in case of an accidental spill or drip.
Good luck Mark

RE: Pretty much the entire side is getting wet
I have a friend with the same problem on a '94 Ski Nautique. Sounds like good advice. We'll check it out the next time we have that problem (Doesn't happen all of the time). By the way, at risk of looking even dumber than I am, what is "5200"? I asume it is some type of sealant, but is this a brand or trade name? Yellow_Flash_Colorz:Tomfooter

RE: Pretty much the entire side is getting wet
5200 Marine Sealant by 3M. Ive found it in small tubes at Home Depot around here, but you can get larger tubes that go in caulk guns at marine stores, I believe.1990 Ski Nautique
