    Dinged my prop...

    Hey folks,

On way back to dock this AM, hit a log of some sort at low speed. Saw chunks of wood floating behind the boat. At the dock dove in and saw one of the blades dinged. Will pull the boat tomorrow (2000 pro air). Any suggestions for props? Not running super loaded, just curious. Running original stock prop, we mostly surf.

Unless you have some big compelling reason to change, just get the same prop. Then send your dinged one off to be repaired. There are many good prop shops than can bring it back to "good as new" condition for $150 or so.

Not sure if the that year was still running the old OJ prop or not. When I put an acme on my 97 sport I thought it was a lot smoother with better performance.
      I like the acme 654.

Thanks, sort of what I'm leaning to do, was just curious if anyone had suggestions. Called a bunch of shops locally, waiting for responses.

Quick update, area dealer is asking $1175 CDN for the prop. Holy crap, I feel violated! US prices are at about $389, converts to about $650 shiping etc. Price gouging much are they? Geez.

Really depends on the prop. I can’t see a prop for 2000air nautiqe being any higher than 500 bones American . 400 is the going rate . I too believe if you swapped to an Acme you’ll get a much smoother pull if you’ve got an OJ on there the Acme 654 would be the stock do all while the 480 would be more of a surf specific prop. Advantage to the 480 for fuel consumption savings if all you did was surf or wakeboard , however if you still ski or cruise a lot that 480 will smoke through your fuel at speeds above 26mph.
