SV211 Impeller Replacement

I have researched the site pretty hard and cannot find a little missing info on how to remove raw water pump to change the impeller on my 211. What exactly do I need to loosen in order to relieve the belt tension. I believe if I just had this info, there is encough info here on impeller change for me to complete the job.

Also, is there an oil drain hose on the 211 or is the only option to suck it out? If there is a hose, where is it?

I believe there is an automatic belt tensioner for the serpentine belt. Look for it, also look in your car it you are unsure what you are looking for. I am not looking forward to this winter when I plan to replace my impeller.

There is a drain hose, but it was not routed to what is the front of our V-drives, so you have to trace it from the oil pan to the current rear of engine, unhook it, and rere-route. I currently have mine clipped high and above the transmission.

I currently have my oil drain hose clipped to the front of the V-drive so it is accessible through the drain access.

I also re-routed my oil drain.. it is almost to short. Mine leaves about 4" of tubing coming out of the bottom of the boat, but it works.

If there are any dealers watching this thread you may want to add this to you list of to-do's for new 211's. A few minutes spent at initial prep-time will save you time at service time.

if you are standing in the boat, facing the swimdeck, and looking down on the motor, the tensioner is on your right side, and high up on the motor. it's obviously in the back, but easy to get to. Take a wrench, or socket, and I believe you turn CCW to release tention.

Well I finally got around to doing my first impeller change myself this past weekend. Everything went great until I tried putting the cover back on. I bet I tried for an hour trying to get it on. I could get 2 screws in but not the 3rd. After removing it completely for about the fifth time, I decided to study it thoroughly to see if anything looked different about the spacing of the 3 holes. (Note, there is very little difference.) Wouldn't you know the thing is actually labeled and clearly says TOP on it. Once I put it on in the right orientation, no issue at all with the screws going in. Boy do I feel stupid. You live and learn. I will never make that mistake again. Otherwise, the impeller change was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Its a little cumbersome getting back there, but really very simple especially when you put the cover back on correctly. If you don't mind me asking, what prompted you to have to change it?

Manuals say to change it every 50 hours or 1 year. So it was time. By the way, the one I removed looked like it could have gone another 50 hrs or so. I usually change once a year or 100 hrs whichever comes first. I think this is fine if you use your boat alot. 50 hrs is overdoing it in my opinion, but I am a little hesitant to leave it in there more than 1 year.
