OK, thanks! I will check that out and report back findings.

Hey Big C, just out of curiosity...what's your compression numbers?

If you don't mind me asking, how long have you had the boat?

Here's what I think - I don't think you have gas or water leaking into the oil. Working on my GT40 I have learned it's super sensitive to final amount of oil. By this I mean that as it gets close on the dipstick, just a little more oil makes a huge difference. I have overfilled my engine more than once and had to pump out the extra. It's particularly easy to do if you top the oil and then don't wait about 5 minutes for the oil to run to the pan through the head and block galleries. Or if you it's just not quite flat when you measure.

I'd do this - put it on the trailer on a flat spot. Get the oil dead on correct. Make sure if you added you have waited 5 minutes before you check it. Run the boat for 20 seconds on the trailer to make sure it's pumped through all areas and then wait that 5 minutes before you check. Once you are dead sure it's correct on the trailer, put it in the lake and now check it again. See what it shows when floating. Then run the boat for a while and reverse the check procedure. I'd be super surprised if the dipstick shows any change.

Re the lumpy idle, I worked that out of my engine (1600 hours) with following:

        - New plugs, plug wires. Get the gaps dead on.
        - My distributor was a bit wonky, i put a napa rebuilt one on for $95. (Look in my post history).
        - Cleaned out the throttle body with carb cleaner
        - Replaced the upper vacuum hoses on the engine; they were a little hard
        - Replaced the PVC grommet; it was crusty and didn't seal well
        - Made sure the engine ran at the correct 160 temp

After this, it runs very smoothly.

Good luck. Hope you decide to run the suggested oil level checks above.
