Adding GPS antenna?

    Adding GPS antenna?

    The 2015 SAN 210 I purchased did not have the GPS option. Wondering if anybody knows if I can just add the antenna and enable the GPS in LINC? I am mostly looking to get GPS Speed readout and speed control. I don't really need it for navigation.
    NautiqueParts.com has a GPS antenna and they say I can add it and have the dealer upgrade the LINC software. Just want to confirm that will get me what I want before I buy the parts and install.

    Yea, you can but it's not cheap. Someone here was looking at doing this a while back and it was in excess of $1000. I don't think it's just the antenna. I believe there's a GPS receiver that has to be installed which connects to the antenna and the LINC. You should check with your dealer before you go and buy parts.

    Honestly, I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze. You're not going to use it for navigation and the paddle wheel does as good a job or better at speed control.

      The dealer wanted over $1100 for the parts plus a few hundred to install the antenna and software. Agreed, not worth it to me at that price. I'll just check the paddle wheel against an app on my phone and remember the correction factor.

      NautiqueParts had the GPS antenna for $595 and that was closer to being an OK price, but not if it doesn't get me what I need.

        My 2019 SANTE 230 has both GPS and Paddle Wheel. I can use either to control the boat's speed. We do have a bit of current here on the lake from time to time and the paddle wheel can compensate for it while GPS cannot. I end up using the Paddle Wheel most of the time.

          You might look at nauticlogic. It's a good sensor you plug in instead of the paddlewheel. The system still thinks it's the paddlewheel signal but it's a nice constant gps signal. Never used but it sounds good.
