Getting a surf wake on my 2006 Super Air Nautique 220 team edition HELP

I just purchased boat. I have tried a ton of combinations to get a wake that is surfable. Im a good wakeborder and got up no problems. The wake does not appear to be large enough. I am only getting a forward push when im 6" from the swim platform. Any comments on ballast, speed, settings would be a great help. ty in advance.

What are you currently working with...tanks, bags, wakeshaper, etc? I went through all of this all summer with our new to me 2003 210. It was a process but we have a great wake now. In May I thought I would never get off the rope now I feel like a kid out there. Board selection is huge too. I know you have a different boat so others can chime in with specifics for your 220.

I have same boat...took a bit of experimenting as well.....curious to what your final outcome was for your set up.

All 3 factory tanks full. All of the bags I have are Fly High. A pair of wedge sacks plumbed into the v drive tanks- fill and drain with stock pumps (all thanks to this site...using corks to prevent spontaneous draining) Mission Delta configured in reverse so suction cups ride ahead of the blade. It is positioned as low and far back on the hull before the angled part. Huge improvement last week as I added a 400 lb non-wedge v drive sack sideways on the floor in front of the back seats. Not bad for passengers it's a nice foot rest. For the bow I like a passenger or two if we are low on people I do have a 155 lb fat brick I will set on the seat. The only bag I manually fill is the one on the floor and it's only about 10-15 minutes to be surf ready.

We almost all surf port though we can switch sides in 30 seconds since we are evenly weighted by moving the Mission Delta. Favorite board is a 5 ft 4 inch Broadcast but my sons will surf a smaller Byerly Action with no issues. I'm about 200 lbs and the second pic show how far back I can drift and still recover to the sweet spot. Took a LOT of experimenting but very happy now! This site is so helpful.

        Edit...forgot 10.5 to 10.7 on Perfect Pass.

Cool.......Sounds like it works great. My system...if you care....ended up being: Pulled hard tanks...replace with two 750's fly high. Kept two pump system per sack and left connected to touch pad control. Belly hard tank left in and put 50lb plate in as well. 300lb bags in bow battery compartment. Use suction wedge on side of boat. ( I am still experimenting with the depth of the wedge on the sides. So far, right at water level is the best...furthest back. But....someone online I was watching the other day said to put as low as you can go......different from what I was told, but I thought I would try it out. Thanks again for your input and sorry to stray away from your thread CKEVANS98. D

            Well guys thanks,
I have not been filling all tanks and do not have a wake shaper. yet that is. I have been trying on a much smaller board that was given to me to try. Im 195 5'10" . it only has 2 fins but slots for 4 i would think unless you just use 2. With all that weight do you ever have issues with the boat plaining off? you do put the shaper on the opposite side of the side you surf correct? where do you purchase sacks?

I'm similar height a few pounds heavier and I love the Broadcast. I got a 5 ft 4 in on Evo for less than 300. It does have 4 small fins. Wakeshaper sticks on non-surf side. I price hunt. Have bought a bunch from Wakemakers, some Evo, some Amazon.

The funny thing is, it's everything working together. Wake is horrible without the shaper. Shaper withiut extra weight is still no good. Board to small not enough push. But once you are there it's so much fun. Back in May I thought I made a mistake buying the 210 with the primary intention to surf. Now it's all smiles.

I am really not the pro on advice here.......but 1. Shaper makes all the difference in the world and there are a ton out there $165-3k. INFINITY (on this website ...has something super sweet I believe and I watched a video if the company the other day.....awesome) I use one from Inland Curl and it works great $165. Yes on opposite side!

                  2. Our board is 2 fin and works great, has a 3rd slot and is med size.....kids and adults get up on it no problem.

                  3. With weight in the boat, I do not cruise....just surf.....when I want to cruise, I empty. Only takes about 5 min to fill and empty. When surfing, weight in bow was a big difference.....so I have weight and people sit up front.

                  4. I bought used 750's and made sure they were solid before I bought them......best purchase ever was to pull hard and put in sacks! BEST ....just my opinion which is not much at all!

Hope that helps out.......I am far from the expert...just learned from this site and experimenting. People on this site are WAY more experienced than me, and I know they will chime in if I gave out bad info They are not shy!

I do have to say....even though your kids will chirp at you the whole time....not big...too small...dirty wave ....not clean...lol, its a lot of fun trying to figure out what works for your boat. Have fun! D

Hahaha glad I'm not the only one with young wave critics on board! I tell them we could still have the I/O so zip it...and please sit up in the bow.

I have the same boat. I use wakemaker piggyback on both sides. For port-side surfers I fill the port side wakemaker bag 3/4 full and the starboard 1/4.
I use the Mission Delta but not backwards. I did that initially but with extra bags you have enough wait to not do that. I put the delta about as far back on the boat as it will go. Remember, it goes starboard side for port-side surfers. Per the instructions, It needs to be about 2” below the water at plane. For us I put it barely below the water line while sitting still if I’m attaching it while sitting in the boat. That accounts for my weight being on top of it while attaching it.

                      Hope that helps.

The 220 can put up a pretty incredible surf wave.
                        My setup:
                        Piggyback 750's in rear lockers
Piggyback arrow sac in center locker.
4x 50lbs Lead Wake bags (1 in front of bow, 3 on floor in rear of passenger area, move to surf side)
Suction cup wake shaper (I made my own, it has about 3x the surface area of the Mission Delta)
                        11.2 mph
                        Hydrogate disengaged
Wave is super long, clean and has a nice solid lip

If you want to mellow it out, just adjust the hydrogate

That's with only a crew of 3 (2 in the boat, 1 surfing)
Add more people and the wave gets bigger

I did test out the Mission Delta and found it was too small, I had a much better wave with my home made one.

                        Hope that helps

Hey Man, how big is the "board" that you used on home made one...I'm plying around with mine as well. Not as weighted as yours but we're seeing improvement by moving weight around.. one thing I didnt try was weighin down the front...gotta try that too...

Piggyback just refers to the way it is set up. Usually means on top of a factory tank. I think people also refer to a bag as piggyback if it is tapped into the fill/drain system of another tank, not necessarily on top. Check wakemakers.com they have all sorts of shapes and sizes. They are very helpful with knowledge of specific boats and can get you set up with fittings etc if you want to tie into the boats pump system.

                              https://www.wakemakers.com/wakeboard...manufacturer=6
