    99 ss restarting issue

Need some help, last 3 times out, we ride for a couple of hours with no issues. then when restarting the engine it wont start up without me going to neutral and giving it a lot of throttle. after it catches and runs, its ok again. I don't turn it off after this happens as I am afraid it wont make it back to the dock. I seem to remember someone else having similar issues, but cant remember what caused it. anybody got an idea what would cause this?
    Thanks, Ray

There is lots of varying threads on this. I just replaced my low pressure fuel pump because of similar issues, but it could be faulty relays, bad anti siphon valve, etc. Correctcraft fan has a great trouble shooting thread on this.

I’m wrestling with this also. I’m currently diagnosing it as a flooding issue. We probably don’t have the same motor, but mine had a fuel injector that was stuck wide open. Replaced that one and symptom is still showing. Based on what I’ve read a bad MAP sensor can create these symptoms also. I’m going to be replacing that this weekend and see if it resolves the issue.

Could be electrical related. Always good to check the rotor and cap.

As the engine warms up conductivity drops, so when you first start it, it may have the voltage to make the connection and runs fine, but once it warms up its harder for that spark to jump or make the connection.

I had a friend 87 SN2001, would start up the first time but then after we turned it off it wouldn't start. We would put it in neutral and it would catch sometimes then it would only run at like 2000 rpm. Sure enough it was the cap and rotor making a bad connection.
