High idle in 2003 SAN with 330 Excalibur (5.7 vortec)

My boat started up fine and ran great except in idle. Initially it would creep up from 600rpmd to 1500 but if I ever it in neutral it would fall back to 600. This got to where it did not help except for maybe 2-3 secs. I looked up the costs of idle air controller and throttle position sensors on Nautique parts because I usually buy all my parts there, they are great. But after some searching I realized they are much cheaper at an auto parts store. I just told them I was looking for an IAC for a 96 Silverado with a 5.7 vortec. Initially this did not help. I turned the batteries off then tried again after a few minutes and it was done better but still not right. So I tried to change the TPS and that's where all my trouble was. The Phillips head bolts were seized and I stripped one out. The easiest thing to do is if they are seized go ahead and take the throttle body off and put it in a vice (use a cloth or something to keep from messing up your throttle body. Then I used a hand impact hammer to get it to break loose and turned it by hand. I tried a vice grip and a screw extractor with it on the boat but there just wasn't any room. Make sure you take those bolts with you and get some hex heads or torx heads to replace them when you put the new sensor in. You don't want to have to do that ever again. While it was off I cleaned the butterfly with throttle body or intake cleaner, once I put it all back together and water tested it it had ran great.
if you have a high idle and that is your only problem, it runs great at full speed. Go ahead and do yourself a favor and buy a TOS from 1Aauto.com for a 86 Silverado with 6.7l and watch their helpful video on how to change it, hope this saves someone some time
