Oil Change 2006 Air natique 220 SRG

I am having some difficulty with an oil change. first off can i get some oil recommendations? I would like to run mobil 1 synthetic sae 15W50 . oil cap recommends api service SJ. sae 15w40 above 50 deg.
The hose for draining is clipped off on top of the engine and seems nearly impossible to fish towards the drain plug under the v drive reservoir.
I tried to use a manual evacuator pump but the hose is too short. need 44" of hose. Difficult to find a long hose as it is off sized.

There's been several write ups lately debating oil types. While I'm a big Mobil 1 fan I've held back and used the recommended 15-40 as outlined in all the literature produced for the PCM engines the 350 Chevy based engines. Could you use the other.... sure. Should you use the other.... I don't know but after a bunch of thought I decided to go with the manufacture and use the recommended 15-40. I did decide to live life on the edge a bit (not really) and went with the Rotella Full Synthetic 15W40 this time.....

At least this way I'm sticking with the 15W40 plan while upping my game on the synthetic side.

Most vDrives I've worked on have a difficult time getting that drain tube to reach the drain plug. In these cases (and most times even if I can reach the plug) I'll use an extraction pump with a fitting that matches the end of the drain hose on the engine. I bought the Sureflo version years and years ago and it's still running strong. I've also used this pump for doing transmission fluid changes as well so after only a couple of uses it's fully paid for itself in comparison to paying a dealer to do it. While I like my set up I've also heard very good things about the vacuum based solutions as well. You may be able to cobble something together with a fitting and some fuel line but the pump out method has ber a clean, quick solution for me.

If you want to drain the hose out the drain plug its easier if you pull the sidewalls off either side of the engine. You can reach down in there better that way. Also it take forever to drain. I usually let mine drain over night. So the previous poster's idea of hooking an extractor to the drain line is a really good solution.

I use a vacuum pump with a fitting that screws onto the oil drain hose. Piece of cake and zero mess . I run the boat for 5 min on the fake a lake to warm up the oil , then suck away . Rotella has a full synthetic line to match their 15w40. I haven’t read the PCM service update in detail quite yet , but I always stuck to mfg specs. I have put over 1500 on one engine and over 2k on another with regular Rotella non-syn , so I am happy with staying with that. See no reason their T6 isn’t the same high quality should you want the Syn option

Yep I use the same method with vacuum pump with brass fitting that screws into oil drain hose . So easy with no mess at all; idiot proof as well
