I'm installing a stern thruster on my 2015 230. It's windy where I dock, and the slips are tricky. I'll post pictures of the install when finished. I do have a stupid question though. When I look at the stern of my boat there is a trim plate connected to the "Vert/Ramp" lever at the helm. Looking t the extent of travel, does this really do anything useful to the wake? It seems like it is blocked by the exhaust from actually performing some useful function. Thanks in advance...

It doesn't look like much, but it changes the attitude of the boat...bow up vs bow down to affect the wake. With the bow up, you will have a steeper, but shorter surfable wake. With the bow down, the wake is less pronounced, not as steep, but you may be able to surf farther back on the wake. We find that where we need the lever varies with the water depth and amount of ballast and who is surfing...Play around with it while underway and you will see.

That's the hydro-gate, used to control the flow of water out of the dispersion tunnel in the hull. The important part is the part that moves vertically, not the part with the cable hooked to it. I would not disconnect or remove that.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. I'm so sorry to not reply for almost a year. My account was strangely locked, and I could not reach the administrator until recently. We installed the EZ drive, and I have to say it is a game changer. My kids can get a surf rope to a rider more consistently, you can position a rider relative to the boat easily, and handling in the wind (it is always windy where we ride) is vastly improved.

I don't have one handy, but we will be on the boat this weekend and will take a couple shots to post. It looks factory and totally sanitary. The parts cost $3500 and I did the work myself. It took about 10 hours. I should caveat this by saying I have a 12,000 sqft workshop, have built many airplanes, boats, and cars from scratch and have every tool known to man from large CNC mills to cranes that can lift the boat. The most challenging aspect of the install was wiring it so that nothing was visible, and it was thoughtfully laid out. I built an access panel into the trash door in the walkway and installed a similar battery cutoff and circuit breaker as exists for the normal battery control so it is possible to completely isolate the system. I'm not trying to suggest it is hard: the kit is complete, and someone with average mechanical skills can tackle this no problem. We chose to machine a few parts to clean up the install but you absolutely do not need to for a functional install.

Man that is cool seeing that on a 230. So the subtle hydrogate has a big impact on the boat's attitude. I'm seeing that big thruster right there next to it. Did you notice any difference in the ride while underway? By the way that looks like the Delta, and if it is, that thruster is probably really handy in those channels.

I was really worried there would be a difference in handling or the wake, but the thruster is above the bottom of the hull and does not seem to have any noticeable effect. It is the Delta, and it makes a huge difference!
