330 Excalibur issues

Hi all, having issues with a 330 Excalibur today (1st day away on a 7 day break). Engine has 500hrs and so far hasn't had any previous issues. This morning the boat (07 220) was running perfectly until I took the wife for a ski. During her ski I accidently bumped the kill switch (clip remained in) and the boat coughed and died. I tried t o restart but to no avail. We were towed back and proceeded to try and fault find all afternoon. The engine cranks but will not fire. When cranking the starter engages then disengages then engages again. We put multimeter on starter terminals and voltage is dropping when starter disengages. Battery voltage is 12.5, temp and oil pressure were fine when engine cut out. Bypassed kill switch and confimed fuel pump cuts out when circuit opens. Pump resumes when circuit is closed again. Drained fuel filter and fuel looks fine. Depressed schrader on fuel rail and fuel present (do not have a gauge). The engine warning light is on but blinks off every 6 seconds. I will buy a scan gauge tomorrow but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also forgot to mention, cap and rotor were changed out about 20hrs ago and has been running fine since. We also swapped the starter relay out today with a spare and appears to be working.

Sounds exactly like what the kill switch would do if it was disconnected. When you bumped it, maybe you knocked one of the wires off the back. You could just connect the wires together to bypass it. I bet that would get you going until you can replace the switch.

Thanks for your reply Jeff. Bypassing the switch was one of the first things I did. Removed both wires from the back of the switch and made a small jumper wire. With this in the fuel pump primes when the ignition is on. When I remove the jumper wire the pump does not operate.

Did you figure out what the issue was?

Turned out to be the crank angle sensor. In the diagnostic manual it says if the engine cuts out during operation and it will wind over but not fire it can be crank angle sensor ( which is what the boat did). If it is the camshaft sensor the boat will run however once it is turned off it will only wind over and not fire if you're trying to start. It appears it was completely coincidental that I bumped the switch when it died (only bumped switch, plastic clip remained in).

Interesting... I would also think the 12.5 is just a tad low... Maybe

Shag, just to clarify it was 12.5v with the engine off (after trying to crank it for a while). With engine running batteries are being charged in the mid to high 13's.
