Hi everyone,
So I just bought a 97 176, and was having trouble getting it started. When I tested it out, it hard started but then ran fine after that on the lake, no idle issues.
I went to winterize it and could not get it started. Finally after speaking to the previus own he let me know I could put in neutral and open the throttle. That worked.
The problem is , I can't get it to idle without feathering the throttle about half way down, anymore towards 12 high and the rpms go down below 500 and the engine stalls.
I also noticed that fuel is dumping into the carb from the rear carb j vent tube.(this happens immediate when I try to start the engine) I thought this was normal until I researched it and I can't find any info on why it is happening.
What would be causing this and is this the reason my engine won't idle properly?
