After draining, does anyone out there just leave the brass drain plugs out for the winter?
How about pulling a hose off or two?
I lost a engine block back in 2007 due to freezing temps. From that point on, I would fog, drain, remove T-Stat, and remove most of my hoses. This was an older Ford 351 Commander. Never had another issue.
However, now I have EX343 and wondering if I can just leave the drain plugs out and possibly remove a hose or two for added protection. I was never the guy who added antifreeze my engine.
I also put a couple of golden rod heaters in the bilge to keep things dry.
Thanks
Doug

This was my first year winterizing. I drained it, filled with antifreeze. Then drained it again, and filled it back up with antifreeze. I realize it's overkill, but antifreeze is really cheap, and with these MN winters I felt better about not having the possibility of diluted antifreeze sitting in there.
