Is boat in gear or just sitting and idling? May be worth buying a mechanic stethoscope to isolate where the noise is coming from. I actually bought one last week from Amazon since I am going with a friend this weekend to look at a 2012 boat that has a ZR409 in it, figured its a good thing to have regardless.
Is it possible the noise is coming from the butterfly in the carb? If you use the neutral lockout and rev engine up a bit to like 1000rpm....is noise still there?

Its a short video, but the noise does not sound consistent (like associated with engine revolution). Sounded like a double tap the 1st time and then a triple tap the 2nd time.

Correct, the taps repeat that same pattern over and over. No carb though. It is just idleing and seems to go away at higher rpms. Want to say it there from 700 rpm up to about 1100. Goes away or can no longer hear it. Can feel and hear a slight hesitation that conicides with each tap. No issues performance wise.

Best I can tell the sound is coming from the port side towards the stern.

Alright, figured this one out. Fired her up to get ready for spring and noticed the same sound. Slightly louder and more of a hesitation/miss. Leaned in and noticed a spark/arc flash coming from inside the plug wire boot. Pulled the plug and there you have it, cracked porcelain insulation

Good catch. I'll have to keep this in the back of my mind for when it happens to me.

Good catch! They recommend spark plug replacement at approx 4-5yrs or 500hrs, you can tell from the overspray that those are the factory plugs. When I replaced mine last winter, I used a small amount of dielectric grease on a cuetip to carefully go around the inside of the boot. You wanna be careful to not touch the plug tip when you re-install the boot, but its supposed to keep the plug from any arcing.
FYI... even tho the price looked good on Amazon, there were a lot of reviews that said the plugs where knock-off and how to tell. I ended up getting mine at Advance Auto, they were running a rebate special then and I still got a good deal. My 2014 ZR409 purrs, such a nice quiet engine
