1995 Pro boss / Pro tec

Hey guys,

I bought a 1995 Sport Nautique with a Pro boss FI / Pro tec ignition system. The boat runs great other than at startup and around 5 minutes after... it doesn't want to go past 3800-4K rpms... then all of a sudden... bam!.... it will fly up to 44 mph @ 4800 rpm.

Has anyone out there ever come across this problem??? Thanks in advance for any help. We got to ski up here in 55* temps today with water in the high 30s. She was a cold one.

The Pro-Tec system is probably on its way out. If it isn't bad yet, it will be soon.

Well.... it's been a long saga since my first post about this boat. I ended up having to switch the fuel system over to a quick fuel carb. Sold the 3 injectors that were still good to a guy just outside of San Francisco with a CLEAN Sport Nautique with TBI. I'm very happy my boat could be an organ donor


I had concerns at first but after our first run of the season last night .... IT RUNS AMAZING.


The Sport actually looks better with this tower than the old boat did.... had to widen it roughly 7 inches.

Parts used:
Quick fuel m600 carb
Carter M60389 pump
Sierra 18-8115 fuel line (pump to carb)
A couple fittings to attach the fuel lines to the carter.
In line fuel filter.


The best part about this setup IMO:

It idled so good after a 30 second hi idle at startup. Settles in at about 750 rpm. When I engage the trans... ZERO rpm drop. When you hammer the throttle... BAM no hesitation. I'm so impressed with this unit... Thanks to everyone who said to ditch the TBI and quit trying to find an injector.

The plan is to do the DUI swap next year if the protec lasts this season. I'm the kind of guy who likes to change one thing at a time and test how it responds. Perfect Pass is next.

Pro Tec Distributor conversion in process....does anyone have a picture of their swap, that shows the how the new bracket it mounted after removing the original "block"? Any other tips to consider during this conversion? Thanks in advance! 1992 SKI with Ford 351 left hand....using the RK107025A kit from Nautique parts .com.....or a video would be cool too! Tom
