    Oxidation? Mold treatment

My Swim platform is looking faded, is this a sign of oxidation? I'm victory red across the whole boat should I do some type of Oxidation treatment? It's a 2014 210.

Also noticed when I pulled my bags that I had some nasty looking mold on the carpet. Is there a good product to clean the carpet with?

    Thanks!

So what you're calling mold is almost for sure mildew. Mildew is pretty easy to treat. Spray 9 Marine is a good cleaner. Or you can scrub it with any good soap and water.

Let's move on to Oxidation: There is NO wax, spray, paste or liquid that you can simply apply and make oxidation go away. Forget about that "as seen on TV" nonsense. Those will make the oxidation disappear for a few days but then it'll come right back. The problem you have here is the location. It's all on the platform and it'll be virtually impossible to fix this without destroying the three SeaDek pads. So here's your process:

    - Take the platform off the boat. Put it on saw horses or a workbench.

    - Remove the SeaDek and order new panels from your dealer.

    - Wet-sand the platform. I'm not going to go into the details here because there are plenty of Youtube videos on how to wet-sand gelcoat.

    - Once the wet-sanding is done, polish the platform with polishing compound. After that, polish it again with a glazing compound.

    - Clean the platform thoroughly and install the new SeaDek panels.

I agree with Charles. Although you may be able to skip the wet sanding if you start with a more aggressive compound and then move to a polishing/glazing compound. 3M Finesse-It works well from my experience. As Charles said, gonna be hard to do this without removing/replacing the Sea Dek.

After you've got the gelcoat polished and shiny make sure you keep your platform covered so the sun doesn't fade it again. Red and other dark colors show oxidation easily. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure in this case!
