2003 SN - High idle

I moved to a lake this year that is more weedy than where I was before. When I am returning to the skier at idle after a fall or something and I take it out of gear as I approach the skier the RPM's shoot up to around 1800-1900 RPM and then slowly return to about 1100 RPM. Normally the engine idles at around 760 not in gear and 660 in gear. I thought it was draw on the engine from there being weeds in the raw water filter but I clean the filter and glass constantly and the engine still seems to do this. Any thoughts?

Does the boat have perfect pass? If so, remove the red cover on the top of the engine and see if it runs ok. If it does, you need to grind the inside of the cover. It gets hung up on the servo cable for the PP.

High Idle - Cover Interference

My 2004 Ski 196 began having high idle problems this season. I found that the engine cover was pressing down on the throttle cable and putting too much of a bend in it. I fixed it this afternoon by grinding a clearance slot in the cover. Just happened to take a picture of it before we went out. No idle problems during 5 hours of skiing this evening.
