Cleaning Interior Vinyl

Just thought I would share some pictures from one of my project boats.

This boat sat out at least all summer before I bought it, and it doesn't have a cover. The interior looked pretty bad.

I usually use Spray Nine Marine on my vinyl that is extremely dirty, use a soft bristle brush to scrub it, and it usually does a great job of cleaning it. I follow it up with a water flush, dry, and then a coat of 303 Aerospace Protectant, and usually vinyl that many people would write off comes back looking great.

Yep. Same for me. Spray Nine Marine to clean, 303 to protect. I really don't think there's a better combination out there.

The regular Spray Nine is about 1/2 price vs the Marine Spray Nine. Many reviews on Amazon state the Regular version is the same formula as the Marine version . We all know when the word "Marine" is added to any product label regardless the price is always higher. In your opinion do you think both versions use the same formula?

Spray nine has been around for decades... It works great! In real stubborn mildew, I have used a mixture of water and Tilex, a little more tilex than water - in a spray bottle (yes tilex has bleach). Once clean, I then flood the area with fresh water, especially the seams/thread. I take the nozzle off the hose and actually take the end of the hose, put it right on the thread seam, and slowly run it over the entire seam. Let it dry a bit, then flood it again. Air dry it then use a 303 like protectant.. I have even used a quality leather conditioner before, and massaged it into the cushions to restore the soft suppleness. Some may criticize this method but it has worked for me for 20 plus years without a problem and like Jeff, I have cleaned some surfaces that others might have thrown out.

Are you using the spray 9 marine multi purpose cleaner or mold and mildew remover? Also, on the 303 are you using the aerospace protectant marine/recreational?

After reading this thread, I just tried to buy some Spray 9 and low and behold..............it is sold out everywhere and most say they wont be getting back in.

I did find it after searching and calling for a couple of hours. Cant wait to get it and try some.

I ended up buying some Spray 9 from Amazon per this thread... waiting for boat to get out of the warehouse to use it

It seems it has the ability to kill bacteria and viruses, so people are buying it up.

Oh good grief. Anyway, I buy Spray 9 Marine by the gallon from Amazon and put it in spray bottles I buy from Lowes. Same for 303 Aerospace Protectant. Again, I just haven't found a better combination for cleaning/protecting vinyl.

Bulk gallon jugs are the only way to go with these products. I use them very much . At least a gallon a season for Spray 9, 303, and Hot Sauce
