Your right, but it is way worse then "not ideal." My friend had a hose come off and water was half way up his engine. Only one bilge pump running. We didn't want to turn off his boat to reset the pump because we thought with the starter under water it might not re-start, and we would be stranded. There are times in a boat that you have to just high-tail it back to a dock or land.

Programming of the PDM causing faults on something as simple as a bilge pump is NOT ACCEPTABLE. That is why bilge pumps IN GENERAL go straight to batteries. Introducing PDM into the equation is not advisable, and puts safety behind a fancy piece of electronic equipment. If the pdm fail you have no bilge pumps.

I had individual chargers for each battery that had manual clamps and after getting home from lake, I would hook them all up and plug them in. Have owned this boat since winter of 2016 and installed a 3rd battery soon after getting the boat (1 for starting and 2 for house). I don't sit in cove too often and just play music but it seemed like cheap insurance to me to add a battery since not being able to start the boat on the water would really suck!

I had a 3-bank NOCO charger installed in early 2018 (MLA installed this setup for me actually).... I had the 16" extension plug mounted into the side of the built-in cooler (see pic). This placement has worked very well for my situation and not having to open the observers seat to plug in this charger (or the 3 separate ones I used to use) is very nice. I have garage and keep mine plugged in 24/7 when not on lake. I believe this is the reason my 2 original batteries are still going strong ....+ I check the water level and top off as needed with distilled water in Spring/Fall. I like that the NOCO chargers have lights on them which tell you the status of each battery when plugged in. Personally I always have my battery switch turned to off when charging. To me, this upgrade (or any battery maintainer) pays for itself over a couple years as it extends the usable battery life.

I like your placement of the NOCO changer and I plan to install my NOCO 2 bank charger there as well. Unfortunately on a G23 the batteries are located midship in the middle of the floor near the ballast pumps therefore I purchased another 10 ft marine 14 gauge wiring for each battery bank to get the cables back to the batteries. The NOCO battery bank only comes standard with a 5-6 ft run of wiring. I plan on placing my charging plug under the observer seat along the fiberglass area so like you I don't need to open the observer seat to charge the batteries.

Even though modern chargers (I have the "on-board" version on my 2017 G23 and will also on my 2020 Paragon) are designed to allow for being left plugged in/maintain without damage to the batteries, I've always plugged mine in about every two-three weeks for a day to bring the batteries back up to full charge. Countless people leave them plugged in all winter long-with absolutely no issue whatsoever. I'm just weird, I suppose... I do the same with my wife's Escalade, as she takes short trips-not many miles. I have always sworn by Deltran Battery Tenders. I did the same with my Harley before I sold it, but never left it plugged in full-time.

Id rather extend the AC with an extension cable, then extend the DC charge outputs. The factory location on a G is actually a pretty decent spot, and the NOCO cables will reach the batteries.

Mounting by the amps on a G23, that extra 10's is going to be dang close to reaching the batteries.

Without extending the cables on the NOCO charger, were did you mount your charger on your G? The area under the obsearver seat is quite a far reach to the batteries, even though that is were I want to mount my charger.

As stated above, the factory location.

Not a bad location . From there the standard cables of 5 - 6 ft should reach the batteries. I may have to reconsider my battery bank placement . Thanks for posting picture

Random but does the batteries need to be turned off to use the factory option battery tender.
