Intermittent Fuel Control Cell

I have a 98 ski with an intermittent fuel control cell. The cell will not kick on 10 percent of the time. Engine cranks fine, rest of the boat has power. I've checked the safty switch, fuse off the battery and lose wiring, all looks fine. Any suggestions before I start swapping parts?

I had the same problem on my 97 SNOB, it ended up being the the connector at the FCC. There is a plug with male one side and female the other side right at the FCC, my female portion was spread out to far and making intermmitent connection. Use a srew driver and bend the female inside the plug so that hole is smaller and makes a better connection w/ the male end when plugged back in (also clean up the connection w/ a wire brush). I see Chautauqua in your name, does that mean you fly for them?

Thanks for the clue, I'll check it out. I'm sorry to say the only flying I do is in the back on the plane with the rest of the cattle. Chautauqua Lake is where I live and ski.

FCC

Let me know if you figure out your problem. I just had my engine cut out on me 2weeks ago at random. Died immediately after restart. Then after about 10 mins. fired right over with no more problems running. (Gremlins?).

PS: I think I towed you home in late July with my '99 Air Nautique. I hope the rest of your summer is going better. Look me up if you need a third.

hmm, there is a recall out there on my '03 196 for this. Hadn't heard of it happening with earlier models. Same fix as BLovell said.

My 95 had the same problem earlier this year. I replaced the fuel pump relay, and the ignition relay. My problem has not come back. Check for loose electrical connections. Nautiques are notorious for bad connections.

A bro of mine had intermittent electrical problems, and his fuse near the battery was whack.

Easiest thing to do is clean all the connections from the keep alive wire on the battery all the way to the motor, clean and coat the connections with diaelectric grease and make sure they are tight.
