    New impeller not drawing water?

I replaced the impeller in my 2003 210 and it doesn't seem to be drawing water to the water filter? Any ideas? I made sure the seal is tight on the impeller housing and all the hose clamps are tight, seals are brand new on the thermostat housing. HELP!

    thanks Robby

Stupid question, but is the seacock open?? My 02 has a valve for the intake hose. As a general rule I never ever close it.

Wish I could help other than that.

I can only assume that it is open. I didn't close it to change the impeller and it was working fine before I sheared all of the fins. Thanks for the idea. I'll double check the seacock it might have gotten bumped while we were messing with the impeller.

If all the fins are missing, you probably have some major chunks stuck in the lines some place. Check the seacock and then start at the pump and pull and wash out hoses to see what comes out until you get to the thermostat. They may also be clogging your thermostat, so you probably have to check that out too. a fin or two is usually not a big deal, especially if it breaks apart slowly, the pieces can work their way out.

All fins gone = lot's of rubber in there to clog things. Pull

        Good luck.

Did you take the actual pump off to change the impeller? If so, make sure you did not put the pump on backwards and are pumping INTO the lake instead of pumping water OUT of the lake. It can happen. And what they said above.... check the thermostat and the hoses. I pulled a piece of impeller out a few weeks ago from a fried impeller 4 years ago!

it is possible that you can put the pump on backwards. if you took the pump out of the boat to replace the impeller, it is very possilbe that you may have put it in backwards. it is also possible that the key fell out of the keyway ie, the groove that holds the impeller onto the shaft. you can slide the impeller in the pump housing and it is possible the key fell out. before you take the pump off, disconnect the belt that runs the pump from the flywheel pulley. spin the pump by hand, you can feel if it is turning inside the housing. if it is easy to spin, the impellar is either completely broken the heck, or the impellar is fine and the key is out. many people say to change the impeller every year or two. when i winterize my boat, i take the impeller out, put it in a sandwich bag full of vaseline, run the vaseline into all the veins of the impellar from outside the bag= no messy hands. and it stays in there till spring. if you have a fake a lake where you supply water to your boat in your driveway, take the hose off above the impeller pump....it should go to the thermostat housing, so just take that end off the hose and crank the engine. if water is pumped out of this hose... then you did not put the pump in backwards.
