my hour meter thats in the rev counter gauge jumped from 540 hours to 6009 hours.
anyone had this happen to them before??
anyone know how to reset the hour meter??
any help would be great

qood question. if i dont buy new, i am considering buying a used 210. are all hour meters resettable? what if you change the ECM? how can if be sure that i am not getting a boat that has had the hour meter jacked with?

You can't. Never buy an older boat based on engine hours alone. Does the condition of the boat overall match up to the indicated hours?

slim...That is funny you posted this. We just bought an '03 SANTE about 2 months ago. When we bought it the hour meter showed 539hrs.

the other day was screwing with the PP, resetting it, etc. The next time at the lake I noticed that the hour meter showed 6000 something hours. Glad I'm not the only one. We need to figure out what we were doing to screw it up.

Which brings up another question... the perfect pass gauge has a meter on it as well. I have always wanted to use something as a 'trip' meter if you will for calculating fuel used over hours. Is there an easy way to rest that so that every time I fill up I know what it took to run for how long? I do it in the cehicles with every fill up, but I will never take the time to write down hours and such.

My PP has two hour meters I think. A permenant one that is not resetable, and one that can be reset when you want to like a trip odomenter. I think you just hold the up button down when you are on that screen.

yes, there is the permanent hour meter. there is also a resettable hour meter (i use mine to keep a solid handle on maintenance intervals and GPH). There is also a trip odometer that approximates how man miles traveled since last reset. to access them, you press the menu and the up arrow at the same time. you keep repeating this process and it will take you through water temp, charging voltage, hours, trip hours, trip odometer, etc.

on another note, i guess it is advisable to say that you should never trust the perfect pass odometer as it sounds like there are some definite issues with it logging the correct hours...

The permanent PP hour meter can and is reset any time you upgrade the Eprom chip. I think it also resets if you just remove it and reinstall it. Hour meters tell you how long the ignition is on. I second DavidF's observation.

That is true, but you are able to set the number of hours when replacing the chip in PP. I had to replace mine, and I was given the option to set the number of hours on the boat.

What year of boat? normally No. If it is a 03 or newer limited or team edition the hours are coming from the engine computer and loggede only when the engine is running.

The hour meter in question that is reading incorrectly is the one that is on the tach. It seems very strange that there is someone that is having the exact problem as me.

So are you guy saying that the problem is most likely in the computer and not the tach itself?

Slim...were you by chance screwing around with the PP when this happened?...as that is the only thing that I can think of that I was doing when the tach hour meter went haywire.
