Battery Question - 2017 G23

I'm in the market to replace both batteries in my 2017 G23 and I wanted to do some research on compatible batteries. Can anyone tell me what Group Size battery I need and a good deep cycle battery they would recommend?

The reason I'm posting a Mantenance/Tech question under General Discussions is beause I received no responses under the Mantenance/ Tech section so here we go again. I want to replace my 2 batteries in my G23 2017 can anyone tell me if they are group size 31 or group size 34 M batteries. I'm thinking they are one of these sizes but I'm not entirely sure.

The only specs I can find are in the PCM manual. They just say 650 CCA minimum. Since the G uses battery boxes, anything that will fit in the boxes and meets the CCA requirement should be fine.

Thanks Jeff, yeah the boxes concern me . I have a battery in my Boston Whaler which is longer than the traditional size marine batteries, and I know it will not fit into the battery boxes in my Nautique. My G23 is in my lift and winterized, and I wanted to purchase my replacement batteries at Sam's Club without actually visualizing the size of the batteries in my boat which is the reason I was trying to locate the group size of the batteries.

They aren’t expensive and that way you have the largest capacity available. If i has to guess they are Group 27 factory, but if they are 29 then the boxes will be large enough to fit 31s.

I'm looking to get two of these Group 31 AMG Marine batteries from Sam's Club because they are a good deal and have 800 CCA. The lenght of the battery is 12.9 inches so I hope they fit into the stock Nautique battery boxes, if not like you say I can just buy two larger boxes.

ok, could be me, but i would NOT do that...if the fiberglass has an indent for the boxes you can't just "but a couple new boxes"...

i know how it is when you just want to get something done. but i would just wait until you get the boat back or unwinterized or whatever.

In my design battery situation, there is no fiberglass hole the battery must fit into or length restrictions other than the plastic battery boxes. Worst case scenario as a member posted is that I have to buy 2 longer plastic battery boxes

i think there is on my g21...good luck...keeps the boxes from sliding around too much...

I had to cut rather large holes in my boat to add larger and more batteries. Overall it was a project I love and was very useful/necessary, but not everyone will want to go through the effort.

To the OP... I’ve always had Interstate batteries and they’ve been very good to me. My boat will be 17 years old this season and I’ve only replaced batteries twice. They’re affordable and you can sometimes get cosmetic blems for a discount. If you take care of them they will last!

Unfortunately I’m only going into my fourth season with my boat but my batteries are toast . They are left in my boat all winter in my covered lift in the elements each season which has taken a toll on them . Anyway this preseason I’m installing 2 new batteries as well as an onboard charger to hopefully extend the life of the batteries

Charger will help take care of them by desulfurization of the plates.

If you go AGM make sure you get a good charger that specifically states it's compatible with AGM batteries. I'm a big fan of AGM batteries but they do have different charging requirements than lead/acid batteries.

This will be my onboard charger I'm getting installed and it states that it is compatible with AGM batteries

My boat is still in storage. I’m planning on replacing the batteries this season. What size are they and what brands are you using?
