Carpet cleaning and post clean treatment?

Once the weather gets a bit better, I plan to clean the carpets in the 206 I purchased last fall. Overall, the carpets are in quite nice shape...they just need a bit of a clean. Plan is to use the hand wand cleaning attachment from our family house carpet cleaner...used this on the prior boat with good results.

Curious if anyone has applied a carpet treatment like Scotchgard or similar and if so...was there an benefit?
