I have a 2002 SAN with the PCM Excalibur 330 (5.7L GM), a PCM 1:1 transmission, and Walter Gear V drive.
I'm finding multiple discrepancies in the manuals and on the components regarding lubrication and fuel.
Engine Oil (above 50°):
Owner's Manual - 40W40
PCM Manual - 15W40 "SJ"
PCM Service bulletin - 15W40 "GF-4/SM"
Motor shroud label - 15W-40
Conclusion: I think I should use a synthetic 15W40
V Drive Oil:
Owner's Manual - SAE #30 oil
PCM Manual - Dexron III, also SAE #30 oil (book isn't consistent)
Motor shroud label - Dextron III (sic)
Label on V Drive - SAE 30
Conclusion: No clue. What happens if the person before me used a different lubricant than the one I select?
Transmission Fluid:
Owner's Manual - Dexron
PCM Manual - Dexron III
Motor shroud label - Dextron III (sic)
Label on Transmission - Dexron III
Conclusion: This one is easy, even if the factory misspelled Dexron on the motor.
Gasoline:
Owner's manual - No more than 10% ethanol
Motor shroud label - 89 octane min,
Gas cap label - No alcohol in fuel
PCM manual - 87 octane - no alchohol in fuel
Conclusion: Should probably stay away from alcohol in fuels and stick with 89 octane.
The motor shroud label specifically says to check the owner's manual....which seems to have the least clue...any insight?
