    Hooked battery up backwards!!

Big bonehead move......I hooked one of my batteries up backwards. When I tried to turn the perko switch, it froze/welded shut. I think the switch by the drivers seat was set to all on too.... The other battery was hooked up correctly. Once I realized what I had done, I quickly removed all connections.

I removed the perko and tried hooking up a good battery (both the ones during the mess-up, won't hold a charge). The hour meter reads O and it won't turn over.

I have checked the three fuses by the red 60 and relays. I am attaching a picture of the two relays that tick/click when I push the start button.Click image for larger version

Might help if you tell what year engine and model you have.

Start by looking at all battery cable connections; perkos, starter and wherever. And then start looking at electrical components, you might have blown your starter. Measure voltages wherever you can and see what has blown or fused. Hope that it's something simple and replaceable.

Thanks for the info! I’m this is all above my pay grade.... I went ahead and took it into the mechanic. Hopefully it’s not too bad!

Check the fuses under the black cover by the circuit breaker in your photo. Crap, just saw you did check them.

Does the boat try to turn over or are the relays just clicking?

Any update? Could it be something as simple as the starter relay / starter did not like the polarity being reversed?

I replaced two of the relays (up top by the 60amp breaker) and no dice. Mechanic should let me know something this week. I’ll keep y’all updated. Thanks for all the suggestions!
