Loose Throttle Lever

On my 95 Nautique, the throttle lever, when pushed forward, does not stay put when I let go of it. I slips back to a 1000 RPM position. Only when I get up to 3000+RPM does it stay put.

Is this normal?

Is there a way to tighten it so I can pull at 2000 RPM and not keep my hand on the lever the whole time?

Yes, this is normal and configured for safety, add Perfect Pass.

see the thortle lever brake. Is a screw behind the lever. If you tighten it you will get more brake

That style of control is made by morse and there was no friction adjustment in that style but you can stretch the return spring on the carb a little to aid in that.

Expanding on the factory specs is always a "bye bye to insurance move"
Buy a new cable, add Perfect Pass or best yet if possible, update the year of your boat.
If your requirements exceed your present position, sell and buy what is nedded if visible.
