03 SANTE Throttle Cable

Background: Was going through the engine two years ago when I picked this boat up. Notice throttle cable was loose on the tree where a brass adjust bolt was (in pic and don't know tech name) I saw it was loose, tried to screw it back into brass....wouldn't. So I left it as is and did all my other work on the engine and have used it as is for two years.

Now: I decide to do some work this spring.....and being on lockdown I thought it would give be something to do. When I sort of took it apart, I realized I think it is supposed to be this way. I just don't like how loose it is, as well as the throttle brass bar it threads through.

Is this correct, or broken, or what ?

And, now that I have tweaked it, whats the best way to tune it correctly this spring when I fake lake run it?

That's set up for PerfectPass. I would suggest reading the installation manual for your version of PP. That will give you all the info you need to set that up right.

So that cable is only for the PP? I know its a stupid question......but I always thought that it was the engine throttle cable and attaching at the end, to dial of the perfect pass.

The cable setup is changed when PP is installed. Same cable, connections are modified. Check out the manual, you'll see what I mean.

Rocky, my 03 SANTE has been the same way since the first day I brought it home in 03. I've always wondered if the threaded rod mounted on the throttle arm should be screwed into the brass barrel, but never really messed with it because it has always worked. The cable coming in from the left of the pic is the throttle cable from the helm... The cable from the right is the PP module. I don't understand how the PP cable secures inside the brass barrel and have always wondered if the cable would get wear on it over time if rubbing against the barrel. So far I've not noticed any wear though. The linkage on the throttle arm is loose like your's as well. I'm guessing so it moves freely without binding.
