I have a 2019 G25 and I have noticed that at some of the gas stations on the lake, the boat will not take fuel. It immediately clicks unless the gas I’m pumped EXTREMELY slow. We trailer to boat a good bit and filling up at the Harris Teeter pump works perfectly fine until fully filled up. Wondering if anybody knows what this problem is and a possible solution. Have tried opening both gas caps.

Following. I’ve frequently experienced a similar issue with my G25. Sometimes it happens on one side only, other times it’s the opposite side and sometimes it’s both sides. I’d love to know why it happens and what can be done to prevent it.

I can't speak to the boat, but the gas pump shuts off by sensing changes in pressure (liquid vs air) at the tip of the nozzle. Near the tip of the nozzle is a small hole, and a small pipe leads back from the hole into the handle. Suction is applied to this pipe using a venturi. When the tank is not full, air is being drawn through the hole by the vacuum, and the air flows easily. When gasoline in the tank rises high enough to block the hole, a mechanical linkage in the handle senses the change in suction and flips the nozzle off.
Based on how the handle works, it is a change in pressure at the tip of the nozzle. This could be a vent blockage or line blockage / kink.
Based on what you described though, the only difference seems to be the angle at which you are likely holding the fuel nozzle while fueling (on a trailer vs down in the water). If you have the nozzle at an odd angle or up against the fill port sidewall it is possible that it is changing the pressure at the nozzle tip enough to kick off the handle. Try rotating and shifting the handle angle. If it is intermittent then it could be a likely culprit. Just a possibility base on the mechanics of the fuel nozzle.

On the top of the gas tank, you have vents...there are likely a couple and all connect to a single vent line which then runs to your carbon canister which then vents outside the boat hull. I was having an issue fueling up similar to what you are saying and finally pulled up my floor and found that the vent line had a sag in it between the 24" area where it ran toward the bow and came up thru the floor under observers compartment. Basically that sag was allowing the vent to fill up with some fuel (I also trailer) and that was not allowing the tank to breathe properly. I was able to remove the sag and have had no more issues.
Its critical that the vent line not have any sags and that it runs "up" the entire way from the tank to the carbon canister, it may be worth digging into this on your boat and one way to check if you have a clogged vent line is to remove the vent line coming into the bottom of the carbon canister and blow thru it to see if clear. If you hear gurgling the line has fuel in it and must have a sag somewhere. Easy to happen if the vent line is not properly supported from the tank. Also possible that somehow the vent has been clogged by something like mud daubers, etc. Usually that would happen near the actual thru hull....if you remove the vent plug, there should be a screen behind it that you can check.

Did you ever figure out how to fix this? Having the same issue on several boats. Both my 2019 G25 SA Nautique and G23 Paragon won't let me fill up properly. As soon as I start pumping as in, the gas comes back up and makes the auto-shutoff click. The only way I can fill it is at a ridiculously low rate. Manuel fuel dispensing from a can works fine.

I had the same issue when fueling my recently purchased 2015 G23 SAN. It took 30 minutes to pump in around 25 gallons at a gas station and had to trickle it in. I emailed customer service at Nautique and they told me to inspect the check valves (located about 8-10" below the fuel cap). I took them both off and they were clean and working properly, problem is that the fuel is not heavy enough to make the spring controlled flap open up. I then took a piece of clean wire and put it down the fill hose to open it up. Put a loop on the end to go over your cap so you don't drop it down and you should be good. You will want the wire to be smooth and kink free so that it does not get caught on the flap when you go to remove. You leave the wire in when filling with fuel and remove when you are done.
Works for me every time! Hope this works for all on this post having this issue.
