I've ordered 5 of the seat base skins from C&S that had some wear to get things back to tip top shape, must say that the workmanship and material quality seem to be very good, now comes my part to get the install right.
I've read the install tips on their site as well as a few bits and pieces on the forums here but didn't really find a step by step guide. I installed my first skin fully knowing it may take a few tries to get perfect, the results were ok. I have a few ripples that could be/should be better.
I did
- use a steamer (as recommended) to get the skins pliable
- take plenty of measurements and drew a bit of a map to know where things should line up
- use morel staples so they won't rust
I did not
- trim any excess so I wouldn't have another shot
- use a thin plastic sheet to help get things in place (it was suggested not to use this but I feel it may make it easier)
Any tips/links greatly appreciated,
