What do you guys think of this unit. Its a fraction of the cost of the Blue Sea and includes all the extra battery cables and connecters you need.

No personal experience with it, but I would not say its a fraction of the price of the 7610, with a proven marine built ACR.

At first glance, I dont like the idea of the one size fits all cable kits. Same with internet retailers packaging up car amp install kits with marine amps. You got too much of something and not enough of another. I prefer to design the system and have my cable lengths and gauge tailored to my specific application.

      7ga cable and 8ga terminals?

Looking closer, It appears this is only the isolator, no switch included. The Blue Sea system is $120 from West Marine and includes the switch and isolator. Add $40 for a switch and you are within $10 difference. Go buy the necessary wiring and things start to get lopsided again, but I wouldn't say the cost difference is dramatically different. I'd probably lean towards buying from West Marine just because the other maker isn't known to me, and I am not qualified to determine if the quality is equal.

I think Amazon was wonky when I first found this. It was listing the whole kit for $39. Its not doing that now...

I went the blue seas 7650 120a. Im going to add a Deep Cycle for my house battery along with the cranking battery. Just got to figure out the wiring. I am also relocating the cranking battery back to under the observers seat. Both will be there with the on/off switch.

Thanks A lot. Got mine today. Was hoping the diagram that came with it would clear up the wiring but it didn’t. Are you just running a 2nd battery for stereo etc? If so Id love to see how it’s wired.

This is the basis of the entire system. The very design and function of the switch creates a dedicated house bank.

This is correct if it's wired according to the diagram, but it's possible to wire a dual switch to simply choose which battery does all the work. In that setup, you'll always have a backup so long as you don't have the switch set to "both" while drawing power down, but it's on the user to make sure both are charged. My old boat was wired that way for a while, I just alternated between the two batteries periodically. Clearly a dedicated house and start battery is a simpler, more user-friendly method. Also known as "better." So long as you wire it up correctly.

Yea I’m working on finding the correctness. Lol.

                          Exactly:

You can see from the diagram, the switch passes power through each side from house battery to house loads (1) and start battery to/from the engine (2). This way the batteries are isolated normally; the ACR combines the batteries for charging, as you know.

so just hook it to the house battery positive side and I’m good?

No, house LOADS, not house battery.

ok forgive me man, I am NOT an electrical person and theres no Marina near me and the one that is will charge $120 per hour to do this. So, the only house load I have is my stereo and 2 amps. I get running the 2 amp wires to the house battery, thats no problem. But this big 2 awg wire coming off the switch. I cant wire it to the CD player lol. Where is the house loads connection?
