Hey all, first post. Recently purchase a beautiful 2012 SANTE 230 with Freshwater Flush. My lake is brackish, so I always flush at the end of the day. I may leave it in overnight and reviewed the Owner's Manual for flush procedures. Manual says to open the valve, turn on the hose, start the engine, then close the valve while flushing if its not on a trailer/lift. I don't know if that's poorly written or if I just can't wrap my brain around why its a different procedure. Any insight? Thanks in advance.

It means to close the raw water intake valve if you are flushing the engine with the boat sitting in the water. This will keep the engine from drawing brackish water in from the lake. If the boat is on the trailer or lift you don't have to close the raw water intake valve because the only water coming in will be from your garden hose.2007 Malibu Wakesetter 23 LSV, 1995 Cobalt 200

As far as the rest goes, run the hose wide open. Just to be safe, have someone work with you. As soon as you start the engine. start the hose. Right as you're ready to shut the engine off, turn off the hose.

There may be two valves involved. One valve is on the thru-hull that goes up from the bottom of the boat into the strainer. And there may be another valve on the flushing intake hose coonnection which is convenient to turn the flushing water on and off in the boat without having to have a helper on the dock or upland manning the hose faucet.
