    2000 ski bilge pump operation

I just replaced the right keypad on my 2000 Ski Nautique, but my bilge pump does not seem to operate. I can hear the a click when I push the bilge pump button, and my bilge pumps work when I put the power toggle in bilge only mode. I pulled the breaker and switched it out with another one thinking it might be a bad breaker, but no luck.
The other functions on my keypad work now that I replace it except the bilge pump.
I can still just throw my power button into bilge power only between sets, but it would be nice to use the keypad now that it works.
Has anyone dealt with this and have an idea where to I should look next?

    Thanks
    Mike

Mike, check fuse panel on back wall under helm? It seem like no voltage is coming out of 60 pin plug. I think it’s the same set up as the one I rewired my 02 SN.

In looking at the wiring diagram, it looks like my problem is somewhere between the fuse panel and where it joins up with bilge only wire coming from the power/ bilge switch. All my other functions from my fuse panel work, and I hear the click when I engage the different functions with my key pads. There is only a black and a brown going to the bilge pump, brown I presume is the switch leg. I'll have to start tracing wires I guess.

Mike, maybe the bilge pin came out of the 40 pin plug. I know it’s a pain pulling the main fuse panel out, good luck.

I have the same issue as mike on my 2000. Is the 40 pin the one that plugs into the ECU on the back of the engine? Mine is a GT40

My 40 pin connection is good. My next step is to replace the junction to the wire coming out of the 3 way toggle. I’m hoping that there is a bad connection in the inline junction.

C_Heath the 40 pin plug is what plugs into your breaker box, on my ski it's right under the helm at my knees.

Does your bilge pump work when you turn the toggle switch to “bilge On” and not through the “All On” with pressing the helm bilge button ( without PME breaker tripped). It seems like an unusual thing for it to be a 40 pin plug issue. Michael...

I only have one bilge button on the right side keypad that I know of. I dont have a all on switch. no PME breakers are tripped. The bilge wire has continuity but no power. The ballast wire that I use that actually works and makes the bilge run has 12v and continuity. No idea where to check next.

Do you hear a click from your PME when you push the bilge button ( should hear contacts closing ). Try checking continuity (should be almost 0 ohms) between the bilge and ballast grounds ( that both black wires go back and are connected to a common ground.

Yes the PME clicks when I hit my bilge button and the green light comes on the button on the brand new pad. I have continuity on the bilge wire so it’s going where it supposed to. I’ll check the continuity on the 2 grounds then.

Just to clarify. “You have continuity on the bilge wire” is the that from you brown bilge wire through the PME to you +v on your battery? I would think that the PME should just work like a switch (bilge button) between the battery +v and bilge brown wire. You could toggle in between 0 ohms and infinity ohms/open circuit. Sorry for so much wording, I’m just try to understand your point and not steer anyone wrong.

No worries! Im so confused on all this anyhow. I should have taken more electronics classes because I SUCK at it. When I stick my pos and neg wires of the meter in the brown and black wire of the bilge wire in the bilge area (the one that plugs into the actual pump, my meter alarms me of continuity. When I switch it over to Volts it has nothing. So, if I try the same thing on the ballast wire, my alarm also goes off and when I switch it to Volts, it reads 12v. The bilge plug thats not working is heading under the drivers seat to the PME.

No problem, when I get home I can check some things with the meter on my boat. Also I want make sure the PME uses dry contacts, and see if continuity checks across a battery is an issue.
