Starting Noise

Fired up the boat in my shop today for the first time this season. Made a weird loud noise the first time....turned it off....made it again on next start. I push throttle a little forward and back, with out engaging it, and the noice went away. Coincidence? Tried it again later....same thing happened, and went away when I did the same thing. I was thinking throttle cable or something, but not sure. Awful noise, but purrs after it goes away. Any thoughts?

i am guessing it's nothing but where the water pulled in by impeller is in exhaust or exhaust flap or something. Something that is nothing...

Or maybe just the dry impeller making noise in the housing. I wouldn't worry about it.

I did have a hose connected to the cool engine block...running of course. Have never heard this noise in 3 years. I guess I won't worry about it for now, but boy it sure sounds bad.

I feel also like it wouldn't stop if I wasn't messing with the throttle. Does it sound weird that it stop sooner when I pulled the throttle a little towards me, and not forward and backward. This is the throttle next to the drivers seat, not the throttle arm in the engine.
