    Perfect Pass Question

I tried to use the Perfect Pass system for the first time this weekend and it didn't appear to take control once speed was reached. Could be operator error?

But I noticed the PRM gauge on the Perrfect Pass display showed 0RPM. Where does the system get RPM information, and is that info required to run a wakeboard pass with the control set to speed (not RPM)?

What type of PP system? Paddlewheel or Stargazer? Do you know if the system has ever worked correctly?

If the system is new to you, I might ID what version you have, get the manual for that version and go through the setup process. That should help determine if it's the system or the operator.

I've never seen it work, but the previous owner claims it worked. I think it's a stargazer. It has a GPS receiver. I was using the manual to try to operate it, but had a passenger on a tube yelling "GO!" I suspect it was the system AND the operator.

When you turn the ignition on, look at the Perfect Pass splash screen and note what software version you have. Download that manual and start there.

The Stargazer / late model mechanical with the 4 line displays are easier to work then the older mechanical / single line display. If yours is a Stargazer, someone upgraded it as that was not available in 2003 (IIR). All the PPs take a little learning, I suspect you just need to spend a little time and figure it out.

A simple test for wakeboarding would be a) unit is turned on b) set to wakeboard mode and set the target speed c) you accelerate until you hear the beep d) system should engage and hold the boat at the target speed. That's all that should be needed.

Edit: to your zero RPM question - yes, that might be problem as the PP does use RPM data as input. But before I tried to work that angle, I'd review the manual and run a few simple tests like the above.

Don't hesitate to call PP. I've called their for their support several times over the years and they've been outstanding.

PP Stargazer is sensitive to low voltage also. Need to check power connections and ground to the control box.
