    Trailer Spart Tire location

I have had some recent issues with my boat rubbing my trailer's spare tire on some steeper lake ramps. Does anybody else have any issues with this? I have noticed that there are various locations for this spare tire. Can anybody make a "after market" mounting recommendation?

My trailer is the pic with the tire on the side. The other pic I borrowed from the trailer that is now currently for sale.

    Yes

I have to get my trailer submerged just right. Too deep and it'll rub. I have my spare mounted as far forward as it'll go, too.

It appears the other trailer pic you posted is a newer Ram-Lin and I know they've made a number of improvements to the newer models (such as the winch and the non-carpeted crash pad). Perhaps the location of the spare is another improvement?

On that first picture, How would you get the tire off without dropping it on your head??

The rear looks like the best spot to me.

I really like that rear mounted version. If it's higher than the lowest point of the trailer (between the prop gaurd and the tire), then it couldn't bottom out.

Anybody have some close up views to show the mounting connection? Can you buy an aftermarket kit?

              RE: Spare Tire Location

On the blue DHM trailer above, my friend went junkyard shopping and bought the spare mounting reel from an astro van. He welded ( although it could be bolted) the reel body to the traier. So the spare is simply attached to the cable like on any pick-up and reeled in tight to the bottom of the trailer.

I really like the teak running boards on the blue trailer. Nice touch
