    Trigger wheel location?

    Hello

Trying to finally fix an annoying cold start issue. Was told to check the wire connections at the "trigger wheel". Where is that??

    Thanks

    Issue:

    Dear Kevin,

Check the wire connections at the trigger wheel, and at the TBI computer. Look for any oxidation or corrosion.
    Thanks,

    Hello

I have a 1994 Sport Nautique. 5.8 PCM ProBoss EFI with the protec ignition system. I have Perfectpass WB pro on the boat (v6.4)

The issue I am having is that the motor will not fire the first start of the day. Once it is started she is good for the rest of the day. The injectors are on top of the motor just below the air filter. When trying to start I can see no fuel is getting pumped in. All I need to do to start is to spray some starting fluid into the air filter and then she starts without hesitation.

    Where do I start?

Seriously, the GT-40 is one of the best documented motors, this manual is like the GT-40 bible. Download it, print it and put it in a binder with your other boat service stuff.

Sorry MIKESKI but the repair maual you gave him is not for his motor he has a tbi motor not a mpi motor. The trigger wheel is in the front of the motor and it is black and it has PCM cast into the cover. Just a odd question but how old is your battery and what type of battery is it? like a deep cycle battery or a cranking battery?

        RE: Trigger wheel location?

        Hi

I do have the TBI EFI 5.8 Proboss. My understanding is that it is a different animal then the electronics that is on the Gt40. However the motors themselves are the same. Just the electronics differ.

I have an Optima Blue top D34M. I am getting 12v at the back of the alternator with the engine not running.

I checked the connection at the trigger wheel. The electric connector looks fine on there. No corrosion. I took the black cover off but that just revealed a metal disc. No wires.
