    Zero Off Upgrade Questions

So I had my 2016 200 Sport Nautique out for the first time yesterday and it's running great. I purchased the boat in July as a bit of a light project as it was in need of some serious cleaning and gel coat correction. I've added some options to the boat it didn't come with (jump seat, center walk through pad on the sun lounger, tower speakers with the JL amp to power all the speakers and Bimini top) and some other lesser items to bring the boat back to a close to new condition. It turned out very well.

With basics done I'm now changing gears and started looking to make it my own with some operational/functional items that will make it a better boat for me. The boat doesn't have Link so I'm stuck with Nautique Cruise. While Nautique Cruise seems to be adequate all my previous boats have had Perfect Pass Pro Series of one kind or another and the last 3 all had Star Gazer GPS. I really like the idea of being able to set up profiles which from what I can see the Nautique Cruise on my boat won't. What I'd like to do is upgrade to Zero Off. I saw that Zero Off offers a Nautique 3 event kit that according to the FAQ's should be a bolt in for my boat.

So the questions I have about going this route are......
    • First has anyone done this upgrade and if so how hard was it on a scale of 1 - 10? Many of you know me on here and know I'm not shy about working on boats/ trailers so I'd like to do this upgrade myself if possible.
    • Next and probably most important is that a several of the creature features such as water temp, air temp, ballast level display are displayed in the Nautique Cruise display. If I upgrade to Zero Off will all these go away with the new display? My previous PP systems that I upgraded to Star Gazer keep everything (as I left the paddle wheel transducer connected) but I have no clue if Zero Off would be the same.
    • Lastly, Is there an "Upgrade Kit" available like there is for the Perfect Pass devices and if so where would be the best place to purchase either kit? I've had a lot of luck with Nautique Parts and would prefer sticking with them if this is an option.

I know there's a lot here but I'm thinking I can't be the only one who's looked at this on this model as it was in the product line for so long and had so much in common with the 200 Nautique.

Thank you for any input you may be able to provide!

If you don't get any insights here, you might try posting at ballofspray.com. Lots of hard core course skiers there....good knowledgeable of PP and Zero Off systems.

Posted via phone. Sorry for the tpyos.

      Thank you for the reply.

I have a call into Zero Off support as well but I have to tell you I was pleasantly surprised with how simple to use and how well the Nautique Cruise worked. If for some reason I can't upgrade, it certainly won't be the end of the world. I would like a GPS based system but so far so good with what I have.

All that said I actually went surfing today for the first time behind my 2016 200 Sport Nautique. I added a pair of 170# bags to each side and have a Mission Delta wake shaper that I'm using. Was stunned by the wake. A bit taller and not as long as we'd like but we're getting that down as we tune in the speed and how/where to place weight in the boat. We started at 10.4 MPH and the wake had a nice curl and long pocket. Unfortunately for fat boy here the speed left me constantly pumping the board to stay in the pocket (I really just need to be 18 and 175 lbs. again). Even the lighter younger guys with skim boards were working, the higher end surf style boards were a much better match at that speed. I took the speed down to 10 MPH and life was much better for me but the wake is a bit taller and the pocket shorter than I'd like. Throwing a person in the bow made things much better but I think we're going to try less weight in the bags next time out to try and stretch the pocket. May even try again without the bags before I go plumbing in the bags. Crazy right?

For a smaller boat that can slalom like a beast I'm quite happy with this little crossover boat. The original plan was to sort it out and move it and pick up another project but the wife and kids really like it. They had a bit of an intervention with me today on the water...... Looks like the 200 Sport Nautique is going to be a family member for this season.

I know this is going to sound like the brochure but if you need a smaller do it all boat, you really need to look at one of these.
