Folks with 230's.. Underseat storage wetness

Hi all, have an 18 230... when I'm done for the day, the lockers are always soaked. especially the passenger seat storage where the amps are. I see that the water management routes water, especially at the top of the seat, directly into the storage area...
I demoed a few other boats including a G23 and they didn't seem have this problem.

Just observing what's going on... folks sitting down after surfing on the seats tends to have the water drip from the top but soaked seems excessive. In the pic i attached (sorry it's 90 degrees off rotation) the dark spots are splashable, and the ligher parts are wet, under the rest is damp.. if you look at where the passenger seat is attached, you'll see water, and a recess where water is supposed to flow to the locker area...
Are yall experiencing the same thing? If so, how do you keep your stuff that needs to be dry.. dry (towels etc)

Mine is a lot older model 230 (2011) but our setups look similar. My passenger seat storage is one of the driest places on the boat. You might look around next time you’re out to see specifically where the water is coming in from.

I've circled where it's coming from, there is a divit in the fiberglass on the left side of the glove compartment when you're looking at it. the one below is where all the water tends to drain.

Do they get in wet and just sit down with life jacket on?? I have Absorber brand towels all over my boat and donÂ’t let anyone in until they have dried off on the swim deck. Your photos suggest they are soaked which if so I would expect these spaces to be wet. The first photo looks like the side bolster is wet.

I could spend a day on the lake and no one get out at all, and would still have it wet there. First thing I actually checked were the tower mounts to make sure there was no leaking there... as dry as they could be.

I have a 2017 230 and noticed the same thing. Haven’t done anything about it, other than make sure the seats are up a good while after use to ensure they dry out as much as possible. If you don’t have time to let the air dry, maybe put a damp rid bucket in that compartment. If you trailer, a little trick to ensure the bucket doesn’t move around is put it in the empty trash can (in its desired location). That will hold it. Looking forward to seeing if anyone else had a “solution”. I, personally, don’t think it’s from wet riders, as I notice it even when I don’t do water sports.

Yes, you're going to get water in there. I just don't really worry about it and when I get the boat home I dry it out as much as I can and leave the seats open. One option is to strip the carpet out and put SeaDek in there. I thought about that but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I just know I'm going to get flamed for this, but here goes... On my boat-after you have surfed-you dry off on the swim platform (vigorously). You then clip or tie your wet life jacket to the rail that is centered on the transom-above the swim platform-where it stays the rest of the ride until we get in. You then get into the boat and sit on a dry "fattowel". Yes, I am a total freak. Flame away, but my sh-t is tight...

Might be that you need to inspect the rub rail and make sure you don’t have a leak between the hull and cap.

That was the first thing I checked this winter. Ran a hose up and down the rub rail to see if there were any pinholes or gaps. But I gotta ask, if there was, what could we do??? Is this something that we would have to handle ourselves, or would this be a hull warranty thing?

Most definitely a warranty item. Dealer would probably remove rail, inspect and just reseal it. The other think to check is to make sure your cup holders are draining and that the drain hoses from them are routed correctly. Not sure where your horn is located but on my 210 this is an opening that leaks into that area.

Yeah... there are two drain hoses connected to the cup holders. Those are the two in in the fiberglass in the bow...

It happens to me in my 2015 230 as well. I think it’s typical. I feel like water gets trapped in the gap between the upper and lower cushions on that seat, and the water slowly drains over sometimes days around the outer corner of the seat, onto the fiberglass ledge you circled, and then drips into the carpet below. Working hard to dry all the way down into the gap between the seat cushions seems to help.

OP, so are you saying on a sunny day (no rain) that it gets wet even if no one gets in the boat with wet clothes/life jackets. You aren't taking any waves over the bow presume.

How do you store your boat when not in use? In a dry garage or outside? If you are storing your boat outside with the cover on, rain water will definitely get in where the cover wraps around the tower base. Also if you are hanging wet life jackets from the board racks to dry, water will drip in the boat.

I don't have a 230, but my GS20 stays bone dry in that location, but I'm almost as anal as RDT-G23 about keeping water out of the boat.

If you are doing all of these things to keep the boat dry and its still getting wet I would tend to agree with Paxdad and think you have a leak between the hull and the cap.
