How would you mount this charger?

I’m installing this pro mariner charger on a 2019 230. Does anybody know where they mount these chargers from the factory? Or have a suggestion for mounting? It seems like the only plate that has a buffer of fiberglass to mount screws Is consumed by the stereo amps.

I’m explaining you this from a G23 owner, but I installed my NOCO gen 8 on the back wall of my port side stern locker and could not be happier with the charger placement. The reason I choose this location over the factory installed location at midship storage is because that is were I store my 150 lbs of steel shot bags on each side of the boat . I did extensive research on charger placement locations and I’m glad I choose this location. The experts and/ or negative bashers may tell you otherwise. I could not be happier with my charger placement just saying .

I agree with GML, the location he used is closer to the batteries as well.

Unfortunately these battery leads are several feet short if I mount it in the rear locker. Shag mentioned it’s closer to the batteries if you mount it back there? Maybe the G’s batteries are stored at the stern (or I am confused). The 230 has the batteries under the observer seat, right under the windshield. So the rear lockers are a bit of a stretch.

Yeah the G batteries are midship vs 230 under observer seat which could be an issue . Good point

I was able to see the thickness of the board on the port side walkthrough. You can view it when opening the garbage door in the walkthrough. I have some short stainless steel hardware, which had easy clearance. I actually had quite the buffer as that didn’t include the carpet or charger’s frame either. To be safe, carefully drilled shallow pilots to remove material and avoid any chance of dimpling on the other side (which is actually behind walkthrough pad and vinyl). The nice thing about this location is it’s right next to a corner that has wiring harness hooks right there, so I can zip tie immediately for a tidy/secure wiring install. Also has nice protection from the seat frame overhang.

I'm late to the answer, and where you mounted works well... But I will add to make sure and read the installation instructions on the charger. I think I remember ProMariner saying the mounting surface needs to be solid and give space for the charger to have air movement behind it so mounting on carpet may not be the best option.

I cut the carpet away from the hull side and used Liquid Nails to glue a piece of HDPE (Starboard) in place, then screwed the charger to it.

that would make sense, I’ll look so swap that out with a panel, then mount to that.

Not a bad placement location. That is the location I mounted my fire extinguisher.
