    2014 210 transmission engagement issues

Having a problem with a new boat I just purchased. 200 hours. Service records (but not at a nautique dealer).

trans functions as it should when cold. After it gets hot from boarding, it takes throttle to engage the transmission (but not in reverse).

Normally it engages as soon as it’s taken out of neutral, which is exactly what it does when it’s “cooler” or cold. It’s slipping while hot.

what could be wrong? Trans was just serviced. If anything it could have a little too much fluid.

    would incorrect fluid cause this?

I checked linkage and even adjusted it a little with no luck. But the fact it only happens when hot says it’s not the linkage and I’m worried...

If trans is too full....I can get air bubbles in it when hot, perhaps that is causing issues? If trans was just serviced, I would verify that correct fluid was also used

Which engine/transmission do you have? It is DEXIII in my ZR409 with the PCM Power Plus transmission.
some are different tho I believe most of the PCM are DEXIII.
Your owners manual would confirm for sure

I believe all PCM and Hurth transmissions are DEXRON III. It lists SAE30 for the Walters transmissions. The PCM Power Plus V-drive transmission is designed to be maintenance-free, other than an annual fluid level check. If it need additional or a change, it needs Mobiltrans SHC 50.

I replaced the fluid today and made sure not to overfill and the problem is gone!

was also experiencing a prominent engine vibration that would resonate throughout the transom and swim deck making a loud and annoying noise. that is gone, too...

so it was either overfull or wrong fluid. thanks dudes!
