    G21 Prop Upgrade

My 2018 G21 has the ZR4 with the factory 2561 prop. As we have added weight above factory ballast the boat struggles to get to plane even with assist on high. I am debating between the 3077 or the 2049 as upgrades but was hoping to get opinions from someone who has run either one or both. Acme markets the 2049 as the high altitude model which clearly in Ohio I am not but the added hole shot with the 14 pitch is of interest. My concern is the rpm at 20-22 range as my dealer feels its really a surf speed prop. That said Acme claims its the best for heavy loads. Thoughts and experiences would be appreciated.

I can't find the 2049 on Acme's site, but I see that the 3077 has a larger hub (3.375") vs the 3" hub on your current 2561 (which is the same prop I have on my '16 G21).

When I was prop shopping last summer, the shop said I should stick with a 3" hub, which pretty much ruled out any other Acme prop (I wanted a higher pitch with the 555 HP engine).

Before buying the 3077, you might want to make sure the larger hub isn't a problem. Let us know if you find it isn't because that will open up options.

      You have a 17x17....

you need a 17x15 or a 17x14 to get the hole shot you’re looking for.

be weary of sales guys recommending anything other than this^^^

you’ll get a lot more holeshot with those heavy weights, but be advised you will be Turning much higher RPMs, burning more fuel, and your top speed and cruise speeds will be reduced.

everything is about trades with props, there’s no freebies or “Magic” performance props.

you trade one thing for another.

All - FYI, up here in the CO mountains at our home lake 8,000’ elevation, we’re running a 17 x 14 V on our 2018 G21 with the H6. This was recommended by our dealer after consultation with the manufacturer. The boat runs like a beast - surfs like a champ, and hops up on plane with full ballast in seconds. I’ve seen a lot of questioning of the H6 (now ZZ6) at altitude, but it’s perfect in the G21.

Thanks for all the information. I did not proof well as I was intending on the 2749 not 2049. I contacted Acme and had a conversation about needs and trade offs and in the end ordered a 2749. They assured me the larger hub of the 3077 would not be an issue. However as nyryan stated the 14 gives the hole shot with the extra weight. I have not received it yet for testing and I will post results. We measured top end at 5600 rpm @39 mph with the 2561. Fuel burn at these prices is not a major issue and since I have the prop puller I figure I can always trade in and out should that change. Just hoping the shape of the wakeboard wake remains as is. We will see.

Did you get your 2749 on? How are you liking the results over the 2561?

I just did this swap and its night and day.. getting to surf speed takes about 3 seconds. Boat cruises only 23mph at 3700 rpm now though. Surf 11mph @3250-3300rpm which is great i think. im at 4300 ft elevation.

I just put mine on yesterday, so my 1st taste of it will be labor day weekend. Looking forward to it.
