    Prop Nut

I bought a 1994 Ski Nautique and a little confused about the prop nut. It looks like there is a cover sitting on the actual nut or is this thing the nut ?
All the Ski boats i have seen before had a regular nut.
    Thanks for your help.

Never seen one on a ski boat in 30 years. Definitely someone added that.

Never seen it either. I did a Google search, and came up with this, but no explanation.

Seems atheistic, I don't see that it would do anything to the wake, although it's surprising what the divit/hydro gate does. It looks like it is just press-fit on. I certainly would not worry about putting it back on after you take it off to do prop work.

That small hole looks like a set screw hole which makes me think this is a cap. I’ve never seen anything like it either.
