Administration, if I am covering redundant information please let me know how you would prefer this info to be added to the library of information you have created. BTW thank you for that because it was this forum that has answered a lot of questions for me and educated me on the subject, recently so forgive me if I and not correct with all of this info.
I recently purchased a 2006 CORRECT CRAFT AIR NAUTIQUE 226 TEAM EDITION WITH A PCM ZR6 6.0 375HP LQ4
THIS IS GOING TO BE A BLOG TYPE ENTRY. PLEASE COMMENT AND PROVIDE FEEDBACK ON ANY OF THESE TOPICS USING THE NUMERICAL REFERENCES PROVIDED. I WILL CONTINUE TO REFINE THIS POST WITH THE BEST INFORMATION GENERATED ABOUT THE TOPICS. PLEASE KNOW I MAY LEAVE CERTAIN THOUGHTS INCOMPLETE BUT INTEND TO COMPLETE EACH TOPIC AS I RESOLVE THESE ISSUES. TOPICS I INTEND TO ADDRESS:
1) Audible Alarm. Long uninterrupted beep with warning lamp (NOT CHECK ENGINE) with good oil pressure, good temperature, and no evident engine related run issues. Can only be reset by coming off plane, shut down, immediate restart. May or may not come back on. UNRESOLVED
2) Audible Alarm. Short interrupted beeping. Ignition Fault See Dealer. Reset using (2) up down arrows on the tachometer. Scanning & clearing this code. UNRESOLVED
3) MEFI 4 Scan port location. ALDL Assembly Line Diagnostic Link. Where is it? What scan tool is available? How to interpret these codes. Go Here for a separate post on the diagnostic port location. https://www.planetnautique.com/vb5/f...-port-location RESOLVED
4) Intermittent gauge related issues. located and removed the Faria gateway box from under the dash. Removed opened inspected. Non-pitot speedometer gauge pick up, it is a paddle wheel style, no moisture present in the Faria Gateway Box. Removed cleaned with electronic cleaner, thoroughly dried out, re-assembled with new gasket. Evident gauge improvements but not perfect. WORKING GAUGES: Tach with 90% digital display improvement in digital display, Intermittent oil pressure no light, tempurature ok (formerly intermittent now seems fine) light works, Gas formerly did not work now intermittent light works. Volts always ok lights work. GAUGES NOT WORKING: No speed from the speedometer ever no light UNRESOLVED. Oil pressure intermittent no light UNRESOLVED. For information regarding this repair please go here https://www.planetnautique.com/vb5/f...-faria-gateway
5) Ways to diagnose Head Gasket Failure includes routine maintenance items such as oil change, coolant flush, new spark plugs and wires. (DISCLOSURE: I HAD TO CONDUCT SOME OF THIS COLD B/C I DID NOT HAVE THE ATTACHMENT TO RUN IT IN THE DRIVEWAY) Must remove the panels and hatches on the rear of the boat for this work. Compression Test conducted cold but good readings. Coolant Pressure Test conducted cold and hot. Cold test was tough to tell. lost 1.5 lbs of pressure overnight. Hot test lost 5lbs of pressure in 10 minutes. Combustion leak indicating fluid test ok NO COMBUSTION GASSES IN FLUID. Closed cooling system flush ok with no evidence of lost fluid or oil in fluid, Oil Change with new filter. used factory 15w 40 ROTELLA. Has remote drain kit, drained it out the plug. NO EVIDENCE OF COOLANT IN OIL. RESOLVED
6) Spark Plugs, Plug wires, Spark plug gap specification is .060. New PCM plugs came gapped at .037 out of the box. Old plugs were factory but not gapped to spec they were approx .038-.040 the way they come out of the box. There is now a possibility that enlarging the gap in the plugs resulted in a spark knock when the engine is cold TBD. UNRESOLVED
7) Fuel filters. Pre-filter. FCC filter change. clamp style cylinder. small amount of water in the separator. RESOLVED
