What's in your spares / emergency kit?

We do a few annual camping trips that puts us in 'out in the bush' shall we say....places where it would be inconvenient to loose the trailer or become a bad time for all to have the boat go out of service. I'm always trying to balance space vs emergency spares. What do you take? Here's my minimum travel list.

    - raw water impeller
    - 'rope in prop' cut away kit; sharp knife and swim googles (always in the boat)
    - quality tire pressure gauge
    - can of fix a flat
    - scissor jack for spare tire swap
    - few basic tools

    Cheers!

Hmm. Thanks...yeah, a prop is an interesting one. In like 30 years of boating, I've killed the prop just one time. Killed = put the boat out of service. Have definitely dinged it a few times. Have to think about that one...nice expense between the prop and the puller.. Spare fluids are also a good consideration...boat just doesn't consume any at this point.

Prop and tools o change most defineatly. Spare-air mini bottle to breathe under water to save time, and a mask.

Weekend saver kit with prop, tools etc (stays in truck). Spare impellers, spare complete strainer with cup and extra seals. Basic tools. Jar opener for releasing a stuck strainer cup. Swiss army knife. Marine radio. Extra submersible ballast pump that plugs into lighter for dewatering. Jumper pack. We have dinged and destroyed several props over the years and having the spare available definitely saves the weekend.

Depends on where I'm going. I'm on a lift in front of the house so I carry nothing, it's all at the house. When we go a trip to a distant lake, I bring it all brother. Large Craftsman tool set that includes sockets (1/4, 3/8 and 1/2" sets), wrench set (SAE and metric), pliers, vise grips, hack saw, DeWalt Impact, DeWalt Air Station, tire slim (fix a flat), hydraulically bottle jack and misc. stuff like glue, mechanic's wire and such. On the boat specific side I'll bring a spare prop, an impeller and a quart of oil. Oh and a spare tire for the trailer is an absolute must. You'd be surprise how may people don't have one.

As crazy as all this sounds you never know what you'll run into on a long trip. I have a Tahoe now which makes carrying all this a bit more challenging than with the F150 but if you need to do a repair somewhere as I have before you'll be happy to have the proper tools to do the work.

If you have no skills then I guess all you'll need is a phone, a screwdriver, a pair of pliers and some sun tan lotion......

Pretty much the same as above plus my BoatUS card. I try to keep the amount of crap in the boat sane but if I make a trip a few extra items stay in the tow vehicle. Watch that bottle jack, it most often does not fit under the axle.

Good point on the bottle jack. I also have a roll back lift (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000KORU9A...osi&th=1&psc=1) and a set of wheel chocks but those are in the truck all the time along with bungee cords and ratchet and tow straps. If you have a tandem axle rig you can use a ratchet strap to pull the axle with the flat up and limp to an exit (ask me how I know this..... ). If I'm going to pick up a new boat I'll even carry a small floor jack.

I also carry the BoatUS card and a AAA card which will get me about 200 miles of towing combined. If you can't get somewhere with that you're really boating in the sticks.

I use a scissor jack over a bottle jack for this very reason. Have a cheap harbor freight version.

The ratchet strap idea is an awesome hack; a strap is going on my must bring list.

Tools, impellor, set of belts, prop, prop nut, jack, puller, fuses, relays, fluids, volt meter, spark plugs, jump leads, trailer bearings.

I need to add a pressure gauge to that list.

Just noticed this...this looks even better than my simple scissor jack. Ever had to use it? Concept is great. Reviews on Amazon are somewhat mixed with some folks highlighting problems with it tipping over and/or digging in on soft ground.

Yes, it's horrible on anything but solid surfaces.

As a direct drive owner, I'm jealous of this space. I have a small onboard kit tucked away in the doghouse.
