I have a 1995 Sport Nautique and the bilge pump quit working, when I tried to take it off, the latches broke so I knew I had to change it then. It had an Attwood V625 and i bought an Attwood Tsunami T-800. When I took the old mount out that had three small screws holding in place, I noticed that the screw holes on the new one did not match up with the old one. I do not want to drill new holes without first finding out what I am drilling into. The base plate for the pump is on a raised section of floor just big enough for the pump to sit on, does that mean I can drill holes in it safely without having to seal them with some sort of sealant, or should I do that anyway? Also, should I seal those original 3 holes because I do not know if water can get in through those holes. I have hooked the wiring up and it works, just want to make sure I mount it properly, and drilling holes in the boat scares me just a little! I can send pictures if I need to.

When I've had to do this, I try to re-use one of the existing holes, even if the others don't line up. Then I would definitely fill in any remaining holes. You don't need a long screw and yes, you can drill into that little flat platform, but for sure be careful how deep you go - just look at the screws that came out and use a drill stop or even a piece of tape wrapped around the drill bit to be sure you're at the right depth.
